*PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY TO PRESS CONTACTS*

MEDIA ADVISORY – For Immediate Release

May 29, 2012

Hands Across Riverdale

Jersey Shore, PA

WHAT: A vigil commemorating Riverdale Mobile Home Park and showing support for residents who are about to be evicted from their homes by Aqua America.

WHEN: Thursday, May 31, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm & Friday 6:30 am – 5:00 pm

WHERE: Riverdale Mobile Home Park, 7 Riverdale Lane, Jersey Shore, PA 17740

BACKGROUND: Aqua America is displacing the residents of the Riverdale Mobile Home Park in order to construct an industrial water withdrawal site to service the natural gas industry. The company has insisted the residents leave their homes by June 1, when construction on the site will commence. Beginning Thursday evening and lasting until construction is scheduled to begin the next day, residents and supporters will hold a vigil and demand that Aqua America sits down with the residents and their representation to negotiate a fair deal that permits the residents to remain living at Riverdale Mobile Home Park with just compensation and the right to return for all residents who have already left in fear.

“This park isn’t just a bunch of trailers with a bunch of people who don’t know each other. We’re all friends. We’re all neighbors. It’s a community. It’s one big family,” says Deb Eck, one of the remaining Riverdale residents.

Join us for Hands Across Riverdale and stay to support the residents when construction begins the next morning. Be a witness, make history. Great photo ops guaranteed.
